*VP Menon an icon of National Integration: Governor*
The Hon'ble Governor Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar said that the pivotal role played by Shri V.P. Menon, a keralite along with Sardar Vallabhai Patel in unifying the princely states into the Indian Union cannot be forgotten. He was inaugurating the 69th Foundation day of Kerala at an impressive function in Rajbhavan today. The Governor recalled the efforts made by V.P. Menon in having dialogues with the Maharajas of princely states and veering them all around to a nationalistic perspective.
The Governor said that everyone has to be a part of the nation building process. "While the Government is doing their bit, people cannot afford to be 'silent spectators' in the Nation's Development," he said.
Noting that Kerala has always guided the nation with the right kind of vision, values and culture that have shaped the course of the nation, the Governor exhorted everyone to play their part effectively in their respective fields. Observing that the road to Viksit Bharat passes through Viksit Kerala, the Governor said that Malayalees have not lagged behind in any field and they have provided leadership in all fields of life.
Later, there was a cultural fete', by the artiste students of Kerala Kalamandalam joined by the staff of Lok Bhavan, adding gusto and grandeur to the formation day celebrations.

ദേശീയ ഐക്യത്തിന് വി.പി. മേനോന്റെ പങ്ക് അവിസ്മരണീയം: ഗവർണർ
ഭാരതത്തിന്റെ ഐക്യത്തിന് മലയാളിയായ വി.പി. മേനോന് നിസ്തുലമായ പങ്ക് വഹിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടെന്നും, അത് അവിസ്മരണീയമാണ് എന്നും ഗവർണർ പറഞ്ഞു.
69-ാം കേരളപ്പിറവി ദിനത്തിന്റ ഭാഗമായി നടന്ന പ്രൌഢഗംഭീരമായ ആഘോഷ പരിപാടികള് രാജ്ഭവനില് ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്ത് സംസാരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു ബഹു. ഗവർണർ ശ്രീ രാജേന്ദ്ര വിശ്വനാഥ് ആർലേക്കർ.
നാട്ടു രാജ്യങ്ങളെ ഇന്ത്യന് യൂണിയനിലേക്കു കൂട്ടിച്ചേര്ക്കുന്നതില് സർദാർ വല്ലഭായി പട്ടേലിനൊപ്പം പ്രവർത്തിച്ച അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സെക്രട്ടറി മലയാളിയായ വി.പി. മേനോൻ ആയിരുന്നു. അന്നത്തെ നാട്ടു രാജാക്കന്മാരുമായി സംവാദത്തിലേര്പ്പെട്ട് അവരുടെ ആശങ്കകൾ ദൂരികരിച്ച് ദേശീയ മുഖ്യധാരയിലേക്ക് കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നതിന് വി.പി. മേനോൻ നടത്തിയ പരിശ്രമങ്ങളെ അദ്ദേഹം ഓർത്തെടുത്തു.
"രാഷ്ട്രനിർമ്മാണപ്രക്രിയയുടെ ഭാഗമാകേണ്ടത് നാം ഓരോരുത്തരുടെയും കടമയാണ് - ഗവർണർ പറഞ്ഞു. രാജ്യവികസനത്തിൽ സർക്കാരുകൾ തങ്ങളുടെ ഭാഗം നിറവേറ്റുമ്പോൾ ജനങ്ങൾ 'കാഴ്ചക്കാര് മാത്രമായി മാറിനില്ക്കു ന്നത് ശരിയല്ല," അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു.
കാഴ്ചപ്പാടിലൂടെയും മൂല്യങ്ങളിലൂടെയും സാംസ്കാരിക തനിമ നിലനിർത്തുന്ന മലയാളികൾ എന്നും കേരളം രാജ്യത്തിനാകെ മാതൃകയാണെന്നും, രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ ഗതിവിഗതികൾ നിര്ണ്ണയിക്കുന്നതില് പലപ്പോഴും കേരളത്തിന് അതിന്റേതായ ഭൂമിക ഉണ്ടെന്നും ഗവർണർ പറഞ്ഞു. വികസിത ഭാരതത്തിലേക്കുള്ള പാത വികസിത കേരളത്തിലൂടെയാണ് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത് എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞ ഗവർണർ ഓരോരുത്തരും അവരവരുടെ കർത്തവ്യങ്ങളിൽ മികവുറ്റവരാകണമെന്ന് നിര്ദ്ദേശിച്ചു.
സമസ്ത മേഖലകളിലും നേതൃ പാടവം തെളിയിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളവരാണ് മലയാളികള് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ ഗവർണർ അവർ ഒരു മേഖലയിലും പിന്നിലല്ലായെന്നും കൂട്ടിച്ചേർത്തു.
ആഘോഷപരിപാടികളുടെ ഭാഗമായി കേരള കലാണ്ഡലത്തിലെ വിദ്യാര്ത്ഥികളുടെയും, ലോക്ഭവൻ ജീവനക്കാരുടെയും വിവിധ കലാപരിപാടികൾ അവതരിപ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ടത് കേരളപ്പിറവി ആഘോഷങ്ങള്ക്ക് നിറവും പകിട്ടുമേകി.
