അച്ചടക്കമുള്ള ഒരു തലമുറ വാര്ത്തെടുക്കാന്, നിർബന്ധിത സൈനിക സേവനം അത്യാവശ്യമാണ്: ഗവർണർ
വരും തലമുറയില് അച്ചടക്കബോധം വളർത്തുന്നതിനും ദേശസ്നേഹം ഊട്ടി ഉറപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനും യുവാക്കൾക്ക് നിർബന്ധിത സൈനിക പരിശീലനം നൽകേണ്ടത് ആവശ്യമാണെന്ന് ഗവർണർ ശ്രീ രാജേന്ദ്ര വിശ്വനാഥ് ആര്ലേക്കർ ചൂണ്ടിക്കാണിച്ചു. പാങ്ങോട് മിലിട്ടറി സ്റ്റേഷനിൽ ഇന്ന് നടന്ന വിരമിച്ച സൈനികരെ ആദരിക്കുന്ന ചടങ്ങിൽ മുഖ്യാതിഥിയായി പങ്കെടുത്ത് സംസാരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം.
സായുധ സേന അവരുടെ അച്ചടക്കവും ത്യാഗവും കൊണ്ട് സമൂഹത്തിനാകമാനം മാതൃകയാണെന്ന് ഗവർണർ പറഞ്ഞു. ഉന്നത നിലവാരം പുലർത്തുന്ന നമ്മുടെ സേന മറ്റുള്ളവര്ക്ക് നിരന്തര പ്രചോദനമാണ്. അതിനാൽ സേനാംഗങ്ങളെ ബഹുമാനിക്കേണ്ടത് രാജ്യത്തിന്റെയും സമൂഹത്തിന്റെയും ഉത്തരവാദിത്തമാണ്. മാതൃരാജ്യത്തെ മറ്റെന്തിനേക്കാളുപരി പരിഗണന നല്കി ബഹുമാനിക്കുകയും, രാജ്യത്തിനായി ജീവത്യാഗം ചെയ്യുന്നതിന് സദാ സന്നദ്ധമായിരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന നമ്മുടെ സൈനികര്ക്ക് ലഭിക്കുന്ന ആദരവ് സ്വാഭാവികമാണെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം കൂട്ടിച്ചേര്ത്തു.
നാം സമാധാനമായി ഉറങ്ങാന്വേണ്ടിയാണ് സായുധസേന ഉറക്കം ഉപേക്ഷിക്കാന് തീരുമാനിച്ചത് – ഗവർണർ പറഞ്ഞു.
നമ്മുടെ സായുധ സേനയുടെ അച്ചടക്കം, പ്രചോദനം, നിസ്വാർത്ഥത എന്നീ ഗുണങ്ങള് നഷ്ടപ്പെടുത്താന് പാടില്ല. പകരം, അടുത്ത തലമുറയ്ക്കായി സംരക്ഷിക്കുകയും പകർന്നു നൽകുകയും ചെയ്യണമെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു. ഈ വർഷത്തെ ആദരവിന്റെ പ്രമേയം 'ശൗര്യ, ശക്തി, സമ്മാന്' (ശൗര്യം, ശക്തി, ബഹുമാനം) എന്നതായിരുന്നു. സായുധ സേന അവശ്യഘട്ടങ്ങളില് ശരിയായ രീതിയില് വീര്യവും ശക്തിയും പ്രകടിപ്പിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. അവർക്ക് അര്ഹമായ തരത്തില് 'ബഹുമാനം' ലഭിക്കുന്നു എന്നത് തികച്ചും ഉചിതമാണ്.
വിരമിച്ച സൈനീകരെ ആദരിച്ച ചടങ്ങിൽ സ്റ്റേഷൻ കമാൻഡർ ബ്രിഗേഡിയർ അനുരാജ് ഉപാധ്യായ അധ്യക്ഷത വഹിച്ചു.

Compulsory Military Training Essential to Infuse Discipline: Governor
The Governor Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Aralekar called for Compulsory Military training to youngsters, to instil a sense of discipline and foster patriot feelings amongst our youth. He was speaking as Chief Guest at the Veterans Felicitation Ceremony at Pangode Military Station here today.
The Governor said that the armed forces by their sense of discipline and sacrifice are a model for the entire society. They set very high standards and inspire others. Hence it is the duty of the nation and society at large to honour them. He added that honour comes naturally to such forces' personnel, as they have put nation first before anything else and they dedicate their lives for the entire nation.
'The Armed Forces choose to be awake so that all of us can sleep in peace' – said the Governor. He said that the sense of discipline, motivation and selflessness of our armed forces personnel should not be frittered, but should be preserved and infused in the next generation. The theme of this year's felicitation was 'Shaurya, Shakthi and Samman' (Valour, Strength and Honour) and the armed forces display valour and strength in an ample measure as part of their calling, and it is just apt that they are being honoured befittingly.
